Iran’s president reportedly submitted resignation letter
Still no deal with Iran
Iran‘s president, Masoud Pezeshkian, has reportedly submitted a resignation letter, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) taking control of national affairs and decision-making.
The report, from Iran International, stated the president felt unable to run the government and fulfill his responsibilities under the circumstances.
The president’s office and his deputy head of communications have denied the report, stating he would not be stepping down.
The report also noted it was unknown if Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei would accept the alleged resignation.
This comes as U.S. forces attacked a cargo ship they claimed was attempting to breach their naval blockade of Iran on Saturday.
