  • A major wildfire has been raging in the Cairngorms National Park for a third day, having ignited in heathland near Ryvoan Bothy on Wednesday morning.
  • The blaze has engulfed an area spanning approximately six kilometres, with the RSPB reporting that 741 acres of land have been burnt so far.
  • Several homes, businesses, campsites, and ski resorts within Glenmore Forest Park have been closed and evacuated as a precautionary measure, though no casualties have been reported.
  • Fire crews, supported by RSPB staff and volunteers, are continuing to battle the ‘protracted incident’, with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirming adequate resources are deployed.
  • A strict cordon remains in place, and the public is warned to avoid the affected area, as a very high wildfire risk persists across parts of Scotland until Monday.
