NSCDC unveils safe school committee in Abia, inaugurates operational vehicles

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abia State Command, has inaugurated its Senior and Junior Disciplinary, Safe School, and Personnel Studying Approval committees.
The command also commissioned three Hilux operational vehicles refurbished by the state governor, Alex Otti.
Speaking on the occasion in Umuahia, the state capital, on Wednesday, the State Commandant, Chukwuemeka Odimba, reminded the committee members to maintain integrity and avoid any forms of bias.
“You have been entrusted with responsibilities that can directly affect the careers, welfare and professional growth of your colleagues. Therefore, avoid personal interests, bias, favouritism and any form of conduct that may compromise the integrity of the committees,” he advised.
Odimba encouraged the committee members to maintain accurate records, observe confidentiality, submit timely reports, and ensure that their recommendations are clear and consistent with ethics, rules and regulations of the corps.
He further expressed his confidence that, with their collective experience, commitment and sense of responsibility, they’d discharge their duties creditably and contribute positively to the effective administration of the state command.
Commissioning the operational vehicles, Odimba, on behalf of the Commandant-General of the corps, Ahmed Audi, appreciated the state governor “for his magnanimity to come to our rescue.
“In less than six months, he has been able to provide us with five vehicles to carry out our assignments, and he has also promised to provide the remaining 10 vehicles and also give us new vehicles because he appreciates the importance of security.”
He recalled numerous things Otti had done for the corps’ state command, including provision of water, an observation point, over 20 plots of land as a permanent headquarters, sponsorship of personnel for a capacity-building programme, among others.
Speaking, the committee’s Chairman and Deputy Commandant, Operations, Ogota Emmanuel, assured residents of the state that the corps, through the committee, would make the state safe for all.
