West Mersea: Woman and girl die after getting into difficulty off coast of Essex
- Two people have died and a third is in serious condition following a water incident off West Mersea, Essex.
- Emergency services were called at 5.35pm on Wednesday after reports of several people in difficulty near Seaview Avenue.
- Police confirmed on Thursday that a teenage girl and a woman in her 40s died as a result of the incident.
- The three individuals involved are believed to be known to each other.
- Detective Chief Inspector Al Pitcher has appealed for witnesses who were at the beach at the time to come forward.
