Trump uses key cabinet meeting to show off new $55 hats
‘He loves war’: Trump slaps Pete Hegseth’s bicep and praises his secretary in Cabinet kickoff
The White House displayed red, $55 hats from the president’s family company at a cabinet meeting, blurring the lines between government business and private profits.
Each cabinet official had a hat, celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, placed before them, available for purchase on the Trump Store website alongside other branded merchandise.
The watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington described this as an “unprecedented level of monetization of the presidency”, noting over 600 new products launched by the Trump Store since the president took office.
The president’s net worth has reportedly risen to approximately $6.5 billion, partly due to the Trump family’s World Liberty Financial crypto business.
During the meeting, the president dismissed concerns about the Iran war’s impact on midterms, while Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin criticised “radical left Democrats” regarding a protest at an ICE facility.
