Three dead after Shoreham-by-Sea incident were members of same family, police say

- Three members of the same family – a man, a woman, and a teenage girl – have died after getting into difficulty in the water off Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, Sussex Police have said.
- A younger girl from the same family was rescued and taken to hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
- Emergency services, including HM Coastguard, the RNLI, Sussex Police, and air ambulances, were called to Shoreham Fort on Tuesday afternoon.
- Chief Superintendent James Collis confirmed the three fatalities and stated that the family’s next of kin have been informed.
- The emergency response led to local travel disruption, with the A259 Brighton Road blocked in both directions.
