Since the 1960s, audiences worldwide have followed the timid Great Dane and his Mystery Inc companions as they unmask fake monsters.
The cherished franchise chronicles four teenagers, Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, and Shaggy Rogers, as they unravel mysteries with several blunders throughout.
Recently, Netflix revealed that a live-action Scooby-Doo is in development with the Origins series centring on the gang of friends and their final summer at camp, where they discover a stray Great Dane puppy who may have witnessed a supernatural killing.
Nevertheless, this isn’t the first occasion the Mystery Inc crew have been transformed into flesh and blood as the Hanna-Barbera animation received its inaugural live-action adaptation back in 2002.
It featured the likes of Freddie Prinze Jr, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini assuming the legendary roles as they investigated the paranormal occurrences at a Spring Break resort named Spooky Island, reports the Express.
Given the film premiered 24 years ago this weekend, we’re examining what the cast has been doing since the picture first reached cinemas.

Following his portrayal of Fred in the films, Freddie Prinze Jr went on to appear in the compelling television series 24 as Cole Ortiz.
He became part of the show’s cast in 2010 for its eighth and concluding season. Nevertheless, discussing his experience on set, it appears he didn’t get along with the lead actor, Kiefer Sutherland.
Back in 2014, Freddie discussed his time working alongside Kiefer while at Comic-Con, branding his former co-star the “most unprofessional dude in the world.”
He subsequently told ABC News that his stint on the show was dreadful, remarking: “I hated every moment of it.”
The actor also revealed how the ordeal led to him retreating from the limelight, as he continued: “I just wanted to quit the business after that. So, I just sort of stopped”.
In response to his claims, Kiefer addressed Freddie’s comments through his representative, who stated: “Kiefer worked with Freddie Prinze, Jr. more than five years ago, and this is the first he has heard of Freddie’s grievances. Kiefer enjoyed working with Freddie and wishes him the best.”

Actress Linda Cardellini, who portrayed Velma in the films, later went on to appear in the Marvel movie franchises as Laura Barton and the devastating Netflix series Dead to Me.
Yet there was one particular role that audiences wouldn’t have witnessed the 50-year-old take on, as she confessed her part was once cut without her even being informed.
During an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2019, she was seated beside Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane when the uncomfortable revelation emerged.
As presenter James suggested she could appear in the animated comedy, Linda responded: “Well, funny you should mention that, because I got fired from it once.
“I did. I did. I did a voice on it, and I told everybody to tune in and watch. And then when I watched it, I was replaced.”
As Seth squirmed beside her, Linda revealed that nobody had informed her that her role had been recast, as the show’s creator offered her a part on another of his productions, American Dad.

While Sarah Michelle Gellar continues to pursue acting, having appeared in the likes of Dexter: Original Sin, Ringer and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, she has also shifted her focus in a different direction.
Back in 2015, she co-founded the lifestyle and baking brand Foodstirs alongside Galit Laibow and Greg Fleishman.
Two years on, she released her debut cookbook, Stirring Up Fun With Food, featuring over 100 recipes and designed to encourage parents to get in the kitchen with their children.
