Demola Olarenwaju, the Senior Political Assistant to the African Democratic Congress, NDC, 2027 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has described President Bola Tinubu as a fake federalist.
Olarenwaju made the remark while noting the federal government as no business keeping the Rural Electrification Agency, REA, as a moribund organization.
He was responding to an argument by an X user @Jamesbisodun faulting his stance on REA.
Jamesbisodun wrote: “Imagine a senior political assistant to Atiku, a vocal champion of true federalism, claiming that a federal Rural Electrification Agency appointment contradicts state electricity autonomy.
“One would expect him to understand that rural electrification remains a core federal function even after the 2023 reforms devolved generation and distribution powers to states.”
Reacting, Olarenwaju insisted that Tinubu is too fixated on appointing his cronnies into federal agencies.
He wrote: “It’s a contradiction – FG has zero business keeping REA as a moribund agency but Tinubu is too fixated with crony appointments for you to see the glaring contradiction. Tinubu is a fake federalist.”
