Guests appeared in exquisite traditional outfits that beautifully reflected African heritage while blending seamlessly with the glamour associated with the awards ceremony. It was a parade of culture, elegance and “soft life” stitched together with sequins, beads and enough designer fabric to make a tailor faint.

This year’s edition features 32 categories, comprising 18 jury-voted awards, 11 audience-voted categories and three special recognition honours.

Organisers also introduced two new categories — Best Indigenous Language Film (North Africa) and Best Indigenous Language Film (Central Africa) — in a move aimed at strengthening the awards’ pan-African representation.

Among the top contenders for this year’s awards are Gingerrr, The Herd, My Father’s Shadow, 3 Cold Dishes and The Serpent’s Gift, all of which secured nominations in major categories.
