  • Thieves broke into the Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer on the French Riviera early on Tuesday morning.
  • The raiders initially took four paintings from the museum shortly before 6am before being spotted by police.
  • Officers gave chase, causing the thieves to drop one artwork, though they escaped with the remaining three paintings.
  • Cagnes-sur-Mer Mayor Bryan Masson condemned the burglary, describing it as a serious attack on the town’s history and heritage.
  • The stolen works have not yet been identified from the museum’s collection, which includes 13 original paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
