The immediate past Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has mourned the passing of Chief Dan Osi Orbih, the former chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.
A condolence message personally signed by the former governor described the deceased as a prominent Edo son and renowned politician.
Obaseki said Dan Orbih would be remembered for his long years of engagement in public affairs which earned him a place in the political history of Edo State.
He said the passing of Orbih represented a significant loss to the state and the nation.

“I received with profound sadness the news of the passing of Chief Dan Osi Orbih, a prominent Edo son and renowned politician who passed away at the age of 64.
“Chief Orbih was a prominent figure in Nigerian politics and an influential voice in Edo State. For many years, he provided leadership to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State as its State Chairman and subsequently served as the PDP National Vice Chairman, South South.
“Through these roles, he contributed significantly to the development of the party in Edo State and Nigeria.
“Chief Orbih’s long years of engagement in public affairs earned him a place in the political history of Edo State, and his passing represents a significant loss to the state and the nation,” Obaseki said in the statement.
He extended his deepest condolences to Orbih’s family, friends, political associates, colleagues and well-wishers.
He particularly sympathised with the late politician’s wife, children and loved ones.
