This is the moment a fearless police officer sprints into a burning home and carries a young girl to safety before rescuing another trapped child and their mother.

Footage released by the Chattanooga Police Department shows Officer Rogers kicking down the door to access the property in Hixson, in the state of Tennessee, US. Bodycam video captures the flames pouring from the front of the two-storey property as the hero cop moves towards the entrance while smoke fills the porch area.

Officer Rogers is seen carrying little Marlowe Blaylock, 4, from the burning building while her mother Rachel exited with her son Charles, 10, after the officer managed to enter the building. He performed the courageous act despite no fire training, risking his own life to save the family earlier this month.

Other footage from the doorbell system, also released by the police, shows the officer arriving on the scene and rushing into the burning building before he rushes back out with the child in his arms, shortly followed by the woman and the other child.

The Chattanooga Police Department said in a statement: “Police are not trained in firefighting, but they do take an oath to serve and protect.

“That is exactly what Officer Rogers did when he was first on the scene at a recent residential fire with flames visible by the front door.

“After neighbours informed Officer Rogers that people were still inside, he immediately jumped into action rescuing two children and their mother. Luckily no injuries were reported.
