An Arab official involved in mediating a ceasefire extension between the US and Iran has hit out at “frustrating” delays in getting the plan approved.
The deal is currently awaiting approval by President Donald Trump, who reportedly wants a few days to think it over.
Both the US and Iran have been accused by the anonymous official of deliberately delaying the announcement and finalization of the agreement.
The memorandum for the ceasefire extension had already been agreed upon three days prior in Doha, leading the official to describe the current situation as “a game of chicken and egg.”
The US president is reportedly still demanding that Iran’s Arab neighbors normalize relations with Israel by joining the Abraham Accords as a condition for the deal, a demand the official believes shows a significant misunderstanding of the situation.
