A man has been found stabbed in a property in South Ayrshire. Police were called to the property on Davidson Place in Ayr at about 3.30pm on Saturday.

Emergency services said the man, 57, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Police Scotland said “extensive inquiries are under way as officers work to establish how the man came about his injuries ”.

Detective constable Stewart Gordon said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to consider if they noticed or saw anything suspicious. Any small detail could help us, so please pass it on. I’d also ask anyone with dash cam or doorbell recording equipment to check their footage for any images which could assist our investigation.”
