Kebbi Hisbah bans secondary school sign-out celebrations

The Kebbi State Hisbah Board has banned all sign-out processions and celebrations marking the completion of secondary school examinations in both public and private schools across the state.
The directive was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi by the Board’s Director of Shari’ah, Surajo Usman Kamba.
According to the statement, principals and proprietors of all public and private secondary schools have been directed not to organise or permit sign-out processions, graduation celebrations, or any related gatherings after students conclude their examinations.
“The Board has directed all principals and proprietors of public and private secondary schools to ensure that no sign-out procession or graduation-related gathering is organised after the completion of examinations,” the statement read in part.
It explained that the decision was taken to protect the moral upbringing of students and ensure that post-examination activities conform with Islamic teachings and the cultural values of Kebbi State.
“This measure is aimed at safeguarding the moral upbringing of our young people and promoting compliance with Islamic teachings and the cherished values of the people of Kebbi State,” the statement added.
The Board appealed to parents, school administrators and other stakeholders to support the directive by ensuring strict compliance.
“We call on parents, school authorities and all relevant stakeholders to cooperate fully with this directive and ensure that it is strictly observed in the interest of our children and society,” it maintained.
The Hisbah Board reaffirmed its commitment to promoting discipline, morality and social order across the state.
“The Board remains committed to promoting discipline, morality and social order in Kebbi State as part of its mandate to uphold ethical and religious values,” the statement further stressed.
