Is there another heatwave coming? Latest weather forecast for this week
Heatwave: Thunderstorms expected as extreme heat weather warning extended
Following a record-shattering heatwave last week, the UK is experiencing cooler, fresher air and more typical summer weather, with some areas, particularly the North West, expecting showers.
Temperatures are forecast to gradually climb again later in the week, potentially reaching highs of 27C in parts of the country, such as London, by Thursday.
While these temperatures are close, they may not quite meet the official heatwave threshold, which requires at least three consecutive days above 27C for much of south-east England and 28C for London.
Longer-term forecasts from WXCharts suggest a potential third heatwave could arrive around 7 July, with temperatures possibly hitting 32C in south-east England and up to 36C in London by 8 July.
The Met Office‘s three-month summer outlook indicates that temperatures between 11 and 25 July are likely to be above normal, with an increased chance of hot conditions developing at times.
