New Germany head coach, Jurgen Klopp has delivered a stern warning to the German Football Association, DFB, during his introduction as the new manager.
The former Liverpool manager is embarking on his first venture in international football, following a highly successful tenure at the club level.
At his unveiling, Klopp spoke to the media and the public, emphasising that he has no interest in the position if it comes with significant criticism. He also clarified that he does not intend to pursue any other role after his time with the national team.
He stated, “The day you no longer want me, I will leave – without any severance pay. If you declare tomorrow that I am inadequate, I will depart. It cannot be just one individual; it must be a collective sentiment.
“If the DFB decides I am not suitable, I will go. If you act poorly and do not allow my family to have peace, I will leave. Feel free to criticize me if things do not go well. I am willing to address it.
“The focus is on the job. Jürgen Klopp does not have a career beyond the national team. Ideally, this will be the pinnacle of my career,” he stated.
Jurgen Klopp has been convinced to take on the role of head coach for Die Mannschaft, succeeding Julian Nagelsmann after the team was unexpectedly eliminated by Paraguay, failing to progress to the Round of 16 for the third consecutive tournament.
Klopp had been without a coaching position since 2024, having departed Liverpool at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. During his time at Anfield, he secured nearly every title and played a pivotal role in revitalizing the club over nine years, and the DFB is hopeful that he can achieve similar success with Germany.
