Meet Team Nigeria athletes for Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Team Nigeria has officially unveiled the athletes who will represent the country at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games as competition gets underway in Scotland.

The Nigerian contingent will compete across several sporting events, with athletes aiming to deliver strong performances and add to the country’s rich history at the Commonwealth Games.

As the Games begin, Team Nigeria carries the hopes of millions of Nigerians, with expectations high for medal-winning performances in various disciplines.

The team features a blend of experienced competitors and emerging talents who have earned their places through impressive performances in national and international competitions.

According to a post obtained from the National Sports Commission’s X handle on Friday, officials expressed confidence in the athletes’ preparation, urging Nigerians to rally behind the team throughout the competition.

“Competition is underway at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, and Team Nigeria is ready to take on the challenge,” the NSC said in a statement.

The statement added: “Meet the athletes representing Nigeria across the various sports at this year’s Games. As they begin their campaigns in Glasgow, they carry the hopes of the nation onto the Commonwealth stage.”

Team Nigeria also called on supporters to cheer on the athletes as they strive for success.

“Join us in wishing our athletes every success throughout the Games,” the statement added.

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games bring together athletes from across the Commonwealth to compete for medals in a wide range of sports, with Nigeria once again looking to make its mark on the international stage.
