Fox axes Trump favorite Maria Bartiromo ‘effective today’

Fox News have announced that they are parting ways with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo with immediate effect.

In a statement, Fox said: “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.”

Bartiromo was known as a favorite of President Donald Trump, and had been linked with the vacant role of press secretary for the Trump administration.

However, Vanity Fair’s Washington Correspondent Aidan McLaughlin downplayed the suggestion on X, stating: “Bartiromo is not leaving for a job in the Trump admin, I’m told.”

The Independent has approached the White House for comment.

Fox have announced that today’s Mornings with Maria will be the final episode. As of tomorrow, the show will be rebranded as Mornings with Fox Business and will be helmed by a rotating cast of anchors.

The Friday show Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street will also be rebranded as Fox Business Network’s Wall Street, and will be hosted this week by Cheryl Casone.

This weekend’s Sunday Morning Futures will be hosted by Jason Chaffetz, with a new host set to be announced at a later date.

Bartiromo, who had become one of the network’s most prominent hosts over the last decade, was known as a vocal supporter of President Trump.

In April, Trump told her during an interview that he was “very surprised” that crude oil prices were “only” at $92 per barrel and predicted that the war could “be over very soon”.

“If you told me that we were going to be at only 92 a barrel, $92 a barrel, I would have been very surprised. All right, and you know what? I’m very happy, and it’s going to come dropping down very big as soon as it’s over,” he said.

Last June, Bartiromo received mockery after misleadingly sharing a fake Trump social media post.

During an interview with Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) following the nationwide No Kings protest, Bartiromo quoted the fabricated post as she said: “I love the way the president handled it because, congressman, he put out a tweet. He writes: ‘A huge thank you to all the No Kings protesters yesterday. I was very concerned that a King was trying to take my place but thanks to your tireless efforts I am still your president! Great job all!’”

Turning back to Crenshaw, Bartiromo gleefully added: “The president had fun with that!”
