Four killed and aircraft destroyed as Ukraine launches biggest attack of the year
Zelensky says Ukrainian drones attacked Russia’s Moscow region
Russian forces reported intercepting 3,124 Ukrainian drones in the past week, with 1,054 destroyed on May 17, marking one of the largest aerial assaults of the year.
At least four people, including an Indian worker, were killed and a dozen were injured in Ukrainian drone attacks across Russia, which also saw debris affect Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the destruction of a rare £30m amphibious aircraft, a cargo vessel, and other military targets deep inside Russia, justifying these as “long-range sanctions”.
“We are clearly telling the Russians: their state must end its war,” he wrote in a post on Telegram.
Russian forces continued their attacks on Ukrainian cities, including Dnipro and Odesa, injuring at least nine people in Dnipro and two in Odesa, including children.
