1. NDPC probes UNILAG, Lotus Bank, Hackerbella over data breaches:
We commence with the reported violations of data protection laws involving the University of Lagos, Lotus Bank and Hackerbella Limited, as reported by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
The commission noted that it has begun a forensic investigation into the matter, as it urged institutions entrusted with the personal data of students, staff members and other members of their communities to have a heightened responsibility to ensure that such data is processed lawfully, fairly, transparently and securely.

2. Why we invited Osun senator over killing comment — Police:
With a few days to the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, the lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, has been invited to appear before the state police command over his viral ‘Kill Accord’ comment.
Fadahunsi was seen in a video circulating on social media where he addressed a gathering that any member of the rival Accord Party seen in Ilesa before Saturday’s governorship election should be killed.
Owing to this comment, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election, Samuel Etaifo, explained why the command invited the lawmaker.

3. Katsina United reject claims that dead player regained consciousness at mortuary:
In a turn of events, Katsina United Football Club has clarified reports on the morgue-to-ICU confusion surrounding the death of their deceased player, Chinedu Ozor.
After Ozor’s death was announced via the club’s Facebook page on Tuesday following his death confirmation by medical personnel, he was then moved to the morgue. Afterwards, it was reported that Ozor was later moved to the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital after movement was seen on his body.
Due to this, the club clarified on Wednesday that the player had actually died, and debunked claims that he regained consciousness.

4. I have no regrets, Islamic cleric defends Muslim-Muslim ticket stance:
The Chairman, Ulama Council of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’ikamatis Sunnah, Sheikh Muhammad Jingir, has maintained his stance on his call for a Muslim-Muslim ticket ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Jingir noted that his support for a Muslim-Muslim ticket was not limited to President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, adding that he expected criticism over his comment.

5. Meet LASU’s best graduating students for two sessions:
During the convocation ceremony of the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 graduates of the Lagos State University on Wednesday, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, announced that more than 20,000 students would graduate across the two sessions, including 494 first-class graduates.
Notable among the graduates is Ayilara Olawale of the Department of Project Management Technology, who emerged as the overall best graduating student for the 2024/2025 academic session with a CGPA of 4.96, graduating with First Class Honours.
Also, Adebanjo Oluolamide of the Department of Aerospace Engineering claimed the honour for the 2025/2026 academic session with an outstanding CGPA of 4.97.
