  • Marking his first foreign trip as Prime Minister, Burnham’s visit coincided with the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence from the Soviet Union.
  • Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky presented Burnham with an award for British support, asserting that Ukraine will not submit to Russian aggression.
  • Burnham pledged that Russian threats would not deter the UK from aiding Ukraine as he prepared to chair a meeting of an Anglo-French coalition.
