Tottenham have had two bids for Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke rejected, as confirmed by Brighton chief executive Paul Barber.
The 25-year-old Dutch centre-back has only 12 months remaining on his contract with the south-coast club.
Brighton rebuffed the offers because they did not meet the club’s valuation for the player.
Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi previously worked with Van Hecke during his tenure at Brighton.
Spurs are keen to bolster their squad after finishing 17th in the Premier League for two consecutive seasons, with Van Hecke identified as a key target.
