- His comments follow the recent dismissal of Brendon McCullum as Test coach and come after early favourite Andy Flower ruled himself out of contention for the position.
- Langer, who played over 100 Test matches and coached Australia for four years, believes a collaborative partnership with McCullum, who remains England’s limited-overs coach, could be effective if the right individuals are involved.
- Separately, Australia coach Andrew McDonald suggested Ben Stokes might make a dramatic return for next year’s Ashes series, a prospect Langer also weighed in on, hoping from an Australian perspective that the “warrior” does not reverse his retirement decision.
