Amotekun Corps foil kidnap operation, rescue woman, children in Ondo

Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network, otherwise known as Amotekun Corps, have rescued a woman and her two children from the clutches of kidnappers in the Isingbo-Osi axis of Akure North Local Council Area of Ondo State.

While disclosing the development, the commander of Amotekun in the state, Adetunji Adeleye, stated that the rescue of the victims was aided by the swift distress call received from the community during the operation.

According to Adeleye, Amotekun personnel arrived at the scene of the incident within five minutes after the distress call was received.

The Amotekun boss stated this while parading 10 suspected criminals arrested for various crimes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, motorcycle theft, and church burglaries in some parts of the state.

He emphasised that the corps’ collaboration with the Fulani community in the state assisted security operatives to a great extent in identifying some kidnappers among the suspects apprehended.

During the parade of the suspected criminals, one Joseph, 25 and Friday, 20, were alleged to have been involved in stealing and reselling stolen motorcycles, with brand new motorcycles sold for N70,000 each.

Speaking on the general security assessment, Adeleye maintained that there has been a drop in criminal activities across the state, a development he attributed to the collaborative efforts of security agencies.

“We find out that there is a very drastic drop in criminal activities in the state, which is a plus to all the security agencies working assiduously to stamp out criminality in the state,” the Commander stated.
