America Labour Day: US Embassy Abuja, Lagos Consulate to close Monday

The United States Mission Nigeria says the US Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of America’s Labour Day holiday.

The missions stated that the closure is part of a schedule of public holidays observed by the diplomatic missions for the remainder of 2026, which includes both American and Nigerian holidays.

According to the notice, the missions would remain closed to the public, stating that routine consular services, including visa processing, will be unavailable on the designated date.

It will be recalled that the US Embassy had previously announced that routine visa services would be processed through the Consulate General in Lagos effective August 1, 2026.
