Is there another heatwave coming? Latest weather forecast for this week

Heatwave: Thunderstorms expected as extreme heat weather warning extended
  • Following a record-shattering heatwave last week, the UK is experiencing cooler, fresher air and more typical summer weather, with some areas, particularly the North West, expecting showers.
  • Temperatures are forecast to gradually climb again later in the week, potentially reaching highs of 27C in parts of the country, such as London, by Thursday.
  • While these temperatures are close, they may not quite meet the official heatwave threshold, which requires at least three consecutive days above 27C for much of south-east England and 28C for London.
  • Longer-term forecasts from WXCharts suggest a potential third heatwave could arrive around 7 July, with temperatures possibly hitting 32C in south-east England and up to 36C in London by 8 July.
  • The Met Office‘s three-month summer outlook indicates that temperatures between 11 and 25 July are likely to be above normal, with an increased chance of hot conditions developing at times.
