It’s never too late to create your own weight loss success story. Finding the courage to begin your transformation is rarely straightforward, but once you get started, you’ll question why you waited so long.
Joan MacDonald is a perfect example of this. When she reached 70, she recognised it was time for a change. She felt exhausted, her health was deteriorating and her entire body ached constantly. So when she chose to take action, Joan felt “intimidated” by the gym, but despite her apprehension, it didn’t hold her back. Today, Joan looks completely transformed and has established a fitness empire.
In a recent Instagram post to her 2.3million followers, the coach shared: “At 70 years old, I was tired. My health was failing, my joints ached, and honestly, I felt completely overwhelmed by how far I had let myself go.
“When I first looked at the gym, I was intimidated. I felt like I didn’t belong there, and a big part of me just wanted to stay comfortable, even if that ‘comfortable’ meant being sick.
“But I knew I needed a change. So, despite the fear and the exhaustion, I didn’t let it stop me.”
Joan began by taking the first step, then another, and gradually she just “kept going”. She transformed each day by adjusting her meals and working hard at the gym.
Discussing her new life, she added: “I didn’t just get healthier; I became the absolute best, most vibrant version of myself.
“If a 70-year-old grandmother can completely transform her life, I promise you that you can too. You are never too old, and it is never too late to choose yourself.”
A decade on from taking her first steps towards change, Joan has earned herself quite a remarkable reputation. She’s featured on the covers of Women’s Health magazines and grown her fitness brand considerably.
These days she commands a powerful presence online, offering followers a glimpse into her workout routine through social media.
Joan previously revealed the three key elements behind her fitness achievements, where she said: “Through movement, through discipline and through choosing myself over and over again.
