Tottenham have hit the ground running in the summer transfer window as they look to put their relegation struggles firmly behind them. The north London club secured their top-flight survival with a 1-0 victory over Everton, with Roberto De Zerbi wasting no time in turning his attention to next season.

According to The Athletic, Spurs are expected to wrap up the free transfers of Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi and Liverpool stalwart Andy Robertson. Both players are due to depart their respective clubs when their contracts expire next month.

The anticipated double swoop follows De Zerbi’s post-Everton admission that sweeping “change” would be required during the off-season to return Spurs to their former heights. The Italian manager said: “From tonight, we have to start to organise and to build a new team. I think we have now to change too many players.

“We have 10, 11, 12 players good enough to stay. Good enough. Like players. Especially like people. And then we have to complete the squad with the first level of players. First level of players, because we suffered too much.

“I suffered a lot, but I think the fans, the club, the board, the players, they suffered too much. We are Tottenham, and we can’t suffer like this until the last second of the last game to stay up.”

Among the numerous problems that dragged Spurs into genuine danger of Championship relegation was their misfiring attack. A combined tally of just 18 league goals from Richarlison, Mathys Tel, Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani falls woefully short of what was anticipated from the gifted quartet.

Dejan Kulusevski’s year-long absence and Mohammed Kudus missing the final five months of the campaign through injury left Thomas Frank, Igor Tudor and De Zerbi with scant options out wide.

With the summer transfer window looming, we examine what could be Tottenham’s next piece of business, as the club appear poised to revive their pursuit of Manchester City winger Savinho.

The Citizens have slapped a £60million valuation on the Brazilian attacker – twice what they paid Girona when snapping him up in 2024 – according to the Daily Mail. The 22-year-old was the target of multiple approaches from Spurs last summer but remained at the Etihad Stadium, with Pep Guardiola refusing to sanction his departure after failing to secure a replacement.

Savinho managed just one league goal in 24 appearances this season but has demonstrated his exceptional pace and capacity to beat defenders on countless occasions. Capable of thriving on either flank, the acquisition of the forward would afford De Zerbi significantly greater versatility across his attacking arsenal.

Given his willingness to make the switch to north London last year, Savinho could – and should – complete the long-awaited transfer and be the next fresh face through the door to revitalise his career after being omitted from Brazil’s World Cup squad.
