Marcus Rashford‘s chance of turning his loan spell at Barcelona permanently has been thrown into doubt as the Catalan club look set to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. The England international has been in brilliant form for Barca and has hinted he wants to make the move permanent but since this development has emerged, it is unlikely to happen.
Rashford is due back at United this summer after a successful season-long loan at Barcelona, who have all but confirmed the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle for £70m.

It leaves Rashford’s future in complete doubt as the bridges at his boyhood club appear well and truly burned at Old Trafford. Even with the recent managerial appointment of Michael Carrick, it seems the 28-year-old’s time at the club is well and truly over but there are number of options available to him.
One proposal would see Rashford join AC Milan in exchange for Rafael Leao, who has a £131m release clause and has been linked with a move to Manchester. United legend Jaap Stam backed the idea, saying any deal must consider a player’s mentality as well as ability.

Another option involves Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado. Reports in Mundo Deportivo claim United are interested, and a move for the 22-year-old could help Barcelona sign Rashford without immediately paying the £26m option fee.
Barcelona have not yet triggered their clause for Rashford, with talks ongoing. He has 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 games this season, and Frenkie de Jong has said he would like him to stay.
