Major retail chains work with Met police to tackle shoplifting surge

- This innovative software significantly accelerates investigations, reducing the time to obtain crucial CCTV footage from up to 28 days to mere minutes.
- Major retail chains, including Tesco, Boots, Marks & Spencer and Greggs, have already adopted the system, highlighting growing concerns over retail crime.
- The Met reports that the new system has led to a caution, charge or other criminal disposal in 29.4 per cent of cases, a substantial increase from the 7.3 per cent average before its introduction.
- Currently trialled in six boroughs, the force is expanding the platform to retailers in an additional eight London boroughs from Tuesday.
