Liverpool crumble to pre-season defeat against Leeds after throwing away two-goal lead
- Liverpool were beaten 4-2 by fellow Premier League club Leeds United in their pre-season friendly in Chicago on Sunday evening.
- Liverpool raced into a two-goal lead in the first half thanks to goals from Luke Chambers and Florian Wirtz.
- However, the Reds lost their way in the second half after making a number of changes at the break, with Brenden Aaronson pulling a goal back before Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Sean Longstaff scored within two minutes of each other to put Leeds in front.
- Calvert-Lewin scored again with five minutes remaining to seal an impressive victory for Daniel Farke’s men.
- New Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola admitted his side needs to make more signings following the loss, with the Premier League season now a little under three weeks away from getting started.
