A nine-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after a serious collision in Kings Norton, Birmingham.
Officers were called to Masshouse Lane, at the junction of Shannon Road, following a two-car crash at approximately 5.55pm. The youngster was discovered with life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
A man and a woman were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, reports Birmingham Live. Both individuals were also taken to hospital for assessment following the incident, a West Midlands Police spokesperson confirmed.
The force urged anyone with information relating to the collision to come forward without delay.
In a statement, the force said: “We’re appealing for information following a serious collision in #Birmingham earlier this evening. We were called to Masshouse Lane at the junction of Shannon Road in Kings Norton at around 5.55pm to reports of a two-car collision.
“A nine-year-old boy was taken to hospital and remains in a critical condition.
“A man and a woman were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. They were taken to hospital to be checked over.
“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area just before and around the time of the collision and in particular anyone who has any dash-cam footage to get in touch. Masshouse Lane at the junction of Shannon Road remains closed.
