Zelensky says Russia has ‘no intention’ of ending war
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says combat continues on the frontline, asserting Russia has no intention of ending the war, while Ukraine’s foreign minister proposed an “airport ceasefire” with Russia as a new European peace effort.
Andrii Sybiha said Zelensky has already discussed the idea with some European leaders.
Both the UK and the EU imposed sanctions on numerous individuals and entities for their roles in the forced deportation, indoctrination, and militarisation of Ukrainian children, with over 20,000 children reportedly transferred to Russia or occupied territories.
The EU’s foreign policy chief rejected Vladimir Putin’s suggestion of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder as a mediator for European security talks, citing Schröder’s conflict of interest due to his ties to Putin and Russian state companies.
Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with the UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan assistance for returning Ukrainians from Russian captivity and ongoing defence cooperation, including Ukrainian expertise in countering drones.
