South African music star, Tyla, has prayed for a unified Africa.
This came a few weeks after she was heavily criticised for not speaking against xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
DAILY POST reports that several Nigerians, including celebrities, had campaigned against Tyla’s planned show in Nigeria after accusing her of not using her platform to speak against attacks on foreigners in South Africa.
Following the backlash, the singer cancelled her show in Lagos.
However, speaking at the South African Music Awards over the weekend, Tyla prayed for a unified Africa.
In a trending video, she said, “And I am just so happy to be South African. I’m happy to be African most of all.
“I pray one day to see a unified Africa. It’s so important.”
