A gangster who placed a man’s life in danger after slashing and an evil RAF serviceman who abused two women in a 17-year campaign of terror were among the Scots criminals jailed this week.
Also locked up was speeding drink-driver who killed a teenager who tragically messaged pals “I may not survive” while in his car, as well as a man who killed a restaurant owner in a one-punch attack following a row over an unpaid bill.

A gangster placed a man’s life in danger after slashing him repeatedly in a jail attack, a court has heard. Robert Warnock, 30, chased Jason Arthur through the Allanton Hall wing of HMP Shotts on November 29 2021.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard that Warnock then struck him three times on the neck with a ‘razor blade’ like weapon. Judge Lord Young saw a two minute long CCTV clip of the attack in which prison guards are forced to restrain Warnock following the assault.
Lord Young also saw Arthur in the clip trying to defend himself with a dinner tray. The court heard that later in the day Arthur was taken to hospital in Wishaw.
Medics found that one of the lacerations to Arthur’s neck came close to his carotid artery – a major body part responsible for maintaining life and transporting oxygen rich blood to the brain, neck and face.

An RAF serviceman was jailed for 11 years after repeatedly strangling two women during a 17-year campaign of abuse. Kenny Ralph Dalgleish, 38, was found guilty of 11 separate charges following a trial at the High Court in Dundee on Friday, June 5.
Police and prosecutors have described his crimes as “horrific” and “a sustained campaign of abuse” following his sentencing.
The court heard that Dalgleish became controlling and verbally abusive towards both women soon after meeting them and his behaviour escalated to include verbal, physical and serious sexual abuse.
He would repeatedly strangle the women, grabbing them by the neck and restricting their breathing.
One woman was also subject to coercive control from Dalgleish who would control her finances and what food she was allowed to eat. He prevented her from sleeping by hitting and shaking her and restricted how long she was allowed to leave the house.

A speeding drink-driver was caged after causing the death of a teenager who messaged “I may not survive” while a passenger in his car.
Erin Slane was in the car driven by Kyle Patrick when they crashed into a field in Perthshire on September 1, 2024, after he drove the vehicle at “grossly excessive speeds”.
The court previously heard the 19-year-old messaged friends during the journey saying “I may not survive tonight. I’m scared. Kyle is steaming”.
Patrick, 23, pleaded guilty at an earlier court hearing to a charge of causing her death by dangerous driving, and causing serious injury to another passenger. He admitted repeatedly driving at “grossly excessive speeds” on the journey towards Gowrie Farm in Perthshire.
Patrick subsequently lost control of the vehicle, which crossed on to the opposite carriageway, and went down an embankment, before hitting a fence and rolling over several times in a field.
Erin was so seriously injured that she died at the scene while a fellow passenger was left seriously injured.
A man extradited to Canada from Scotland was jailed after admitting killing a restaurant owner in a one-punch attack.
Sharif Rahman died in hospital a week after he was assaulted in Owen Sound, Ontario, in August 2023, following a row over an unpaid bill. The 44-year-old hit his head on the pavement after being punched, suffering critical injuries.

Robert Evans Jr pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Ontario Court of Justice hearing in Owen Sound on Friday, June 5. The 25-year-old, who is believed to be from Manchester, has now been sentenced to three-and-a-half years behind bars.
However, due to time already served, he will see out the final seven months of his sentence before remaining in custody pending deportation to the UK, the court heard.
His father, Robert Evans Sr, and his uncle, Barry Evans, were also extradited from Scotland and admitted being accessories to the crime. The pair have been sentenced to time already served and have since been deported.
