President of Argentina, Javier Milei, has insisted that captain Lionel Messi has brought immense joy to all Argentines.

Milei was speaking after Argentina’s World Cup final 1-0 defeat to Spain on Sunday.

In an interview with Radio Mitre, Milei said of Messi, “Anyone who has been at the highest professional level for over 20 years deserves admiration.

“Not only that, but he has also brought immense joy to all Argentines and everyone who appreciates great football.”

Messi, 39,  recorded eight goals and four assists for Argentina at the World Cup.

The Inter Miami forward will be 43 years old when the next edition of the World Cup kicks off in 2030.
