Argentina stars, Cristian Romero and Lisandro Martinez, have fired back at Manchester United legend Gary Neville after Lionel Scaloni’s side defeated England 2-1 in the World Cup semi-final on Wednesday.
Neville had recently labelled Martinez and Romero as ‘the best worst centre-halves in the world’.
The former England defender stated this after Argentina’s 3-2 win over Egypt in the Round of 16 stage.
Reacting to Neville’s comments, Martinez and Romero gave a joint interview after Argentina defeated England.
“We are used to people always talking about us; it seems they just love talking about us,” Martinez told DSports Argentina.
“We don’t really respond, we just let our play on the pitch do the talking, always with respect,” he said.
On his part, Romero added, “The only thing I hope is that when I retire, I won’t be that stupid.
“Hopefully, down the line, I won’t go around criticising players or anyone else,” he said.
