England forward, Anthony Gordon, has named Argentina captain, Lionel Messi as the greatest player of all-time.
Gordon stated this after England’s World Cup semi-final 2-1 defeat to Argentina on Wednesday.
Recall that Gordon’s goal was not enough as Argentina defeated the Three Lions to progress to the World Cup final.
“I have watched Messi influence games at Barcelona for years, and today I realized he is even better than I thought,” Gordon, who recently joined Barcelona from Newcastle United, said at his post-match interview.
“When you have someone like Messi on your team, everything becomes easier. He only needed a moment to change the game, and that is exactly what happened tonight.
“That is why he is considered the greatest player of all time.”
Gordon will now hope to lead Thomas Tuchel’s men to victory when they face France in the World Cup third-place final on Saturday.
