- World Seniors Championship debut: Despite recently playing at the World Snooker Championship, Ronnie O’Sullivan is making an appearance at the Crucible once more. The 50-year-old is debuting at the World Seniors Championship thanks to a recent rule change.
- Rule switch explained: Previously, only snooker players over the age of 40 who sat outside of the top 64 in the world rankings were allowed to play. However, the World Snooker Tour (WST) and the World Seniors Snooker (WSS) decided to terminate this rule.
- What does this mean for Ronnie?: The Rocket, ranked 14th in the world, is now able to compete at the prestigious tournament. The World Seniors has also returned to the Crucible for the first time since 2019.
- O’Sullivan’s run so far: The Englishman beat Ken Doherty 4-1 to advance past the second round. He then hit back from 2-1 down to Peter Lines to win 4-2 in the quarter-finals and set up a semi-final clash.
- Result at the World Snooker Championship: O’Sullivan beat He Guoqiang 10-2 to make it to the quarter finals of the major tournament. However, he exited at the last-16 stage thanks to an intense battle with John Higgins, who beat him 13-12.
- Who is he playing next?: The 50-year-old will play Robert Milkins next on Saturday afternoon in a best-of-13 frames at the Crucible. The match is set to start at 12:30pm.
- Other semi-final: The other final four clash is between Craig Steadman and Joe Perry, which will take place on Saturday night. The clash is planned to start at 7pm.
