Jonathan Tah’s headed goal for Germany against Paraguay in their World Cup last-32 tie was controversially ruled out by VAR.
With the score at 1-1, the defender rose highest to head home after a corner shortly before the extra time interval.
However, after the celebrations, the players were informed the goal was being checked by VAR, which in turn advised Moroccan referee Jalal Jayed to go to the monitor to check.
After a review, defender Waldemar Anton was adjudged to have blocked goalkeeper Orlando Gill from challenging for the ball.
BBC’s referee analyst Darren Cann appeared to disagree with the decision, saying there was “hardly anything” in the incident, while co-commentator Alan Shearer said the goal should have stood.
