White House denies Trump was mystery patient given early access to weight-loss drug

White House officials are denying that President Donald Trump was the 79-year-old patient who reportedly received early access to retatrutide, an experimental weight loss drug, under “compassionate use.”
Health news site STAT reported that drug maker Eli Lilly and the FDA granted a 79-year-old patient access to the treatment for severe health complications, including refractory obesity, obstructive sleep apnea and pulmonary hypertension.
White House spokesman Kush Desai called suggestions that Trump was the patient “baseless speculation,” and other White House accounts accused commentators of spreading “bulls***.”
The patient’s request for the drug reportedly drew interest from top health officials, suggesting they were “well connected.”
Trump, who is now 80, previously received early access to an antibody therapy for Covid during the pandemic and has denied using weight loss drugs like Wegovy and Ozempic.
