- Rain will sweep in from the Atlantic on Thursday evening, bringing showers to Scotland, Wales and the north of England.
- The Met Office long-range forecast predicts unsettled weather in early September, with “temperatures… likely to be near average, although brief warm or very warm spells are possible, especially in the south.”
- It follows the hottest UK summer on record since 1884, which saw a mean average seasonal temperature of 16.5C.
