Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC in the state, Sharafadeen Alli have declared the death of Chief Lekan Alabi as another great loss to the entire State.

Makinde and Alli made said this in their separate condolence messages issued on Saturday.

DAILY POST gathered that Alabi, a former Chief Press Secretary to three governors in the state died in the early hours of Saturday, at the age of 76.

Alabi was until his death, the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Makinde in his reaction, described Alabi as one of the finest indigenes of the State.

He said the death of the elder statesman is the loss of another fine Oyo son.

Makinde in the statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the Ibadan senior Chief.

He described the deceased as an outstanding public affairs analyst, distinguished elder statesman, cultural icon and respected community leader.

Makinde said, “His voice carried the weight of truth, his counsel was sought by leaders across generations, and his commitment to the preservation of Yoruba culture and values was unwavering. Oyo State has lost one of its finest sons.”

The APC candidate in his own reaction, described the death of the deceased as a monumental loss not only to the people of Ibadanland but Oyo State in general.

He added that his legacy will continue to inspire many youths.

“His passing is a painful and irreplaceable loss. Ibadanland has lost a custodian of its history and values, while the journalism profession has lost one of its finest voices and most experienced practitioners”.
