Veteran journalist, Dotun Oladipo dies at 56

Seasoned journalist and publisher of Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo is dead.

Dotun died after suddenly falling ill at his office on Tuesday.

Danlami Nmodu, the President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, GOCOP, confirmed his death on Tuesday night.

Speaking on the guild’s WhatsApp platform, Danlami wrote: “It has just been confirmed that Emeritus President, Mr Dotun Oladipo, died today.

Also announcing his demise on Wednesday morning, the General Secretary of the Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society, IMPCMS, Nkanu Egbe, described the sad news as “devastating.”

Nkanu said, “The Executive Committee will communicate further details regarding funeral arrangements, condolence visits, and interim leadership matters as they become available.”

Dotun was a guest analyst on the popular TVC programme, Journalist Hangout.

Prior to his death, Dotun Oladipo was the President of IMPCMS and the Emeritus President of GOCOP.

Before founding Eagle Online, Dotun worked with the Nigerian Tribune and Nigerian Compass.

He was also a former Politics Editor at PUNCH Newspapers.
