The Pakistani Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has arrived in Washington within the last few hours, to meet US secretary of state Marco Rubio as mediation efforts continue to end the crisis between the United States and Iran.

DAILY POST reports that Pakistan has largely spearheaded mediation efforts between the US and Iran during the war.

Dar spoke to the US President Donald Trump over the weekend and said that the conversation marked a significant step closer towards regional peace.

“The achievements of these negotiations offer grounds for optimism that a positive and durable outcome is within reach,” he said.

Recall that in spite of the initial optimism last weekend that an agreement might be close, the two sides have since traded strikes.
