These latest actions follow earlier U.S. “self-defense” strikes this week against Iran’s missile launch sites and mine-laying boats in the same region.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated the strikes were conducted to protect U.S. troops from threats posed by Iranian forces.
Despite the recent attacks, a fragile ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, which has been in place for nearly two months, is still considered to be active.
