The management of Federal University Wukari, FUW, in Taraba State has issued a security advisory, directing all members of staff and students to refrain from travelling along the Wukari–Zaki Biam and Wukari–Takum roads until further notice, citing prevailing security concerns in the affected areas.
The directive was contained in a circular dated July 1, 2026, and released through the office of the registrar.

The university said the advisory was a proactive measure aimed at safeguarding the lives and well-being of members of its community amid the current security situation.

“Staff and students are strongly advised to avoid the two routes and make use of alternative roads whenever travel is unavoidable,” the circular stated.

The university also urged members of the institution to remain vigilant during their journeys and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

The management explained that the advisory was issued purely as a precautionary measure and would remain in force until further notice.

While acknowledging the inconvenience the directive may cause to commuters who regularly use the affected roads, the university appealed for the understanding and cooperation of staff and students, stressing that the safety of members of the university community remains its highest priority.

Our reporter observed that, no further details were provided in the circular on the specific security concerns that informed the advisory.
