Azerbaijani football club PFK Turan Tovuz has been banned by UEFA from participating in next season’s Conference League.
The decision stems from the club’s involvement in activities aimed at influencing match outcomes, as confirmed by UEFA’s Appeals Body.
Turan Tovuz states the ban relates to a 2019 disciplinary case where seven of its players were prohibited from football activities for match-fixing by the Azerbaijani football association.
Despite finishing third in Azerbaijan’s top flight, the club denies wrongdoing, asserts its entitlement to play, and plans to appeal UEFA’s ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
PFK Turan Tovuz is continuing its preparation plans for the Conference League, including a training camp in Turkey, despite the ban.
