The Hotel and Personal Services Senior Staff Association, an affiliate of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, has picketed the Abuja Continental Hotel over alleged unfair labour practices and indecent working conditions.
Another reason for the action is the dispute surrounding the unionisation of the hotel’s workers and their freedom of association.
According to the union, efforts to meet with the hotel’s management to resolve the issues have been rebuffed.
As of the time of filing this report, the union was attempting to lock the hotel’s gate, but police officers and some hotel officials were resisting the move.
